Nomad Games is bringing Games Workshop's tabletop classic Talisman to iOS and Android

Games Workshop is preparing to release a digital version of '80s fantasy board game Talisman for iPad and Android tablets later this month.

Developed by Nomad Games, Talisman Prologue will recreate the single player campaign featured in the 30-year-old original, using the rules of the 4th Edition.

Starting in the outer region of the board, players must fight their way through randomised enemies to the inner regions to reach the Crown of Command.

When it was released, Talisman was characterised by its long playing time (two hours or more for a decent game), and luck-based mechanics.

As with its cardboard inspiration, Talisman Prologue will recreate these random elements by having players draw cards for each space they land upon.

These cards will determine whether characters discover a chest of treasure, or a hacked off dragon.

For this initial release, Talisman Prologue will only allow players to tackle the single-player campaign. A full mulitplayer release is scheduled for later in the year.

Featuring 10 characters, 50 quests, and a healthy does of nostalgia, Talisman Prologue will be available for iPad on February 28th.

We are still awaiting confirmation of the Android release date, but we've got our fingers crossed for a simultaneous launch.
