Later this spring, gaming giant EA will launch the world's "first-ever" freemium Tetris title on Apple's App Store and Google Play.

Said title will be called Tetris Blitz, and it will offer an "innovative twist" on the famous puzzle title's age-old gameplay.

In Tetris Blitz, you'll have just two minutes to clear as many lines and rack up as many points as you possibly can.

You'll be able to boost your score by clearing multiple lines back-to-back; activating a special Frenzy mode that's full of cascading blocks and helpful multipliers; and using power-ups.

EA will refresh these power-ups on a weekly basis, so you'll always have something new with which to play around.

What he said

"Tetris Blitz wraps all of the best elements of the iconic Tetris game inside a bite-sized, frenzied experience that is perfect for smartphones and tablets," Nick Earl, SVP and GM of EA's All Play label, said.

"The crisp graphics, innovative new controls, and social leaderboards are bound to make Tetris Blitz a captivating gaming experience for longtime Tetris fans and newcomers alike."

Tetris Blitz will slide onto the App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore this spring.
