Top 10 movie franchises that would make great Temple Run spin-offs

Earlier this month, Disney France PR representative Cecile Fouques teased a new Temple Run spin-off called Temple Run: Oz the Great and Powerful.

This got us thinking. Thinking about which other films and movie franchises would make for amazing endless-running titles.

Here's what we came up with.

In an Aliens-themed Temple Run spin-off, you would, quite naturally, find yourself being chased down the cramped and dark corridors of a decrepit spaceship by one of Hollywood's most frightening otherworldly antagonists.

We'd love to see a few facehuggers thrown in somewhere for good measure, too.

Near the end of The Bourne Identity, there's an excellent scene where Matt Damon commandeers a classic Mini Cooper and races through the busy streets of Paris in order to evade the police and the CIA.

To cut a long story short, this chase scene could serve as the perfect 'setup' for a highly engaging endless-runner.

When we picture Harrison Ford's first action-packed Indy adventure, we can't help but think about the movie's now-infamous boulder scene.

An Indiana Jones-style Temple Run game probably wouldn't be that different from Imangi's vanilla experience.

It'd just boast a load more fedoras and one or four humourous quips.

Steven Spielberg's 1993 sci-fi masterpiece is brimming with scenes that could be transformed into excellent Temple Run-style games.

How cool would it feel to outrun a T. rex in a gas-powered jeep, for example? Or to take a herd of stampeding Gallimimus to the cleaners in a footrace?

Disney's The Lion King features one of the saddest scenes committed to celluloid.

It's almost impossible not to shed a tear as you watch Mufasa disappear under the hooves of hundreds of stampeding wildebeest.

In this endless-runner spin-off game, it'd be your job to stay one step ahead of the wild beasts. Simple.

Numerous set pieces and vignettes from Back to the Future and its two sequels could be translated into a more-than-adequate endless-running title.

The scene we think could most easily be adapted into a hit iOS and Android 3D endless-runner, though, takes place during Marty McFly's second trip through time.

Yes, we're talking about that epic hoverboard scene where Marty is chased through a futuristic city by Biff Tannen's cybernetically enhanced grandson.

If you've seen the excellent Forrest Gump just once in your life, you'll probably know exactly where we're going with this.

Yep, you're right.

For those of you who haven't caught this multi-Oscar-winning classic, there's a scene early on in the movie in which a young Forrest (complete with leg braces) is forced to outrun a group of stone-throwing bullies on pushbikes.

In this Temple Run spin-off, you'd step into the shoes of POW Captain Virgil Hilts (or Steve McQueen, if you prefer).

Your aim would be to distance yourself from your Nazi pursuers and travel far enough to cross the German border to safety.

You'd have to swipe downwards on your device's screen to slide under roadblocks, and swipe upwards to leap over wire fences and other obstacles.

So, in Temple Run: Return of the Jedi you wouldn't take control of Luke Skywalker.

In fact, you wouldn't take control of any Jedi.

You'd actually play as a scout trooper on the forest moon of Endor. And you'd have to use a speeder bike to avoid the abovementioned lightsaber-wielding warrior and his twin sister Leia.

Nice twist, huh.

What do you get if you replace Temple Run protagonist Guy Dangerous with a young John Connor, and substitute those murderous monkeys and dilapidated ruins for Skynet's terrifying T-1000 and a San Fernando Valley-based flood-control channel?

That's right.

You get an excellent Terminator 2-themed endless-runner in which you're tasked with outrunning a robotic shapeshifter that's pursuing you in an 18-wheeler.
