One of our jobs here at Pocket Gamer is to sieve through the hundreds of apps that hit the App Store and Google Play every single day, and unearth those glittering gems.

Lately, though, we've been giving you the chance to have YOUR say, too. Basically, we've been giving you the opportunity to tell us your favourite game from a shortlist of the week's best releases.

This week's votes have been counted (and recounted), and we have a winner: Table Top Racing.

Table Top Racing is the first game to issue forth from the creative loins of Playrise Digital, a new startup founded by ex-WipEout dev Nick Burcombe.

Seemingly inspired by the small scale shenanigans of Micro Machines, Table Top Racing pits tiny vehicles against each other on macro racetracks.

These miniature courses - usually scrawled in chalk onto a dining room table or patio surface - are the perfect setting for iddy-biddy ice-cream trucks and model Volkswagon campers to battle for pole position.

Against the grain

Both braking and acceleration in Table Top Racing are managed automatically, leaving you to look after the steering. You can also launch weapons and trigger collected power-ups to give you an edge over your diminutive competitors.

While not the deepest racer on the market, we enjoyed Table Top Racing, with our reviewer deeming it "polished and instantly playable".

What's more, if the game does well on iOS, the team might consider doing its own futuristic racer for the App Store, in the style of WipEout. Be still, my anti-gravity heart!
