As you may have heard, Imangi's Temple Run 2 charged onto the App Store today, leaving all other endless-runners scurrying into the hills.

Though this long-awaited sequel to the über-successful Temple Run failed to appear on Google Play at the same time as its iOS counterpart, Imangi has announced that the Android version is just around the corner.

Speaking to Polygon, Imangi co-founder Keith Shepherd revealed that Temple Run 2 will race onto Google Play and the Amazon Appstore sometime next week.

The end is in sight

Though Shepherd was reluctant to commit to a precise date, he believes that Android users should be whooshing down zip-lines and leaping over pitfalls in Temple Run 2 before next Friday.

Whichever platform you play Temple Run 2 on, you can look forward to a host of new content.

In an interview with TUAW, Shepherd said that the Imangi team "rewrote the entire game" to make the process of adding extra content easier.

At the moment, though, we think Android fans will be happy just to play the game on their smartphones and tablets.
