Level-5 posts trailer for Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies, Layton's last adventure

For fans of Level-5's wildly successful Professor Layton series of puzzle games, the recently posted trailer for Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies is a bittersweet moment.

On the one hand, the game looks like a great deal of fun. Layton, Luke, and Emmy take to the skies in an airship as they solve puzzles and mysteries centering around a girl found frozen in ice.

On the other, Level-5's CEO Akihiro Hino has gone on record as saying this will be Hershel Layton's last adventure.

While there is a possibility for future spin-off installments, there's little question that this sixth title in the series will be the last to star Professor Layton himself.

Blimping along

Unlike previous Professor Layton games which centered around specific cities or locations, the entire world appears to be in play in this most recent outing.

Events in the game kick off when Professor Layton receives a letter claiming that a mysterious frozen mummy has been discovered in the snow-covered city of Snowrassa.

After flying down to investigate the mummy, Layton and his companions then take control of an airship and fly around the world in a quest to solve the mystery behind the shrouded Azran civilization.

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies is scheduled for a release date of February 28 in Japan. There has been no announcement yet of a European or North American release.
