Vblank Entertainment's GTA-inspired Retro City Rampage will crash onto PS Vita handhelds in the UK and around Europe on January 16th.

"Retro City Rampage for PS3 / PS Vita hits UK / Europe / Asia January 16th (next week)," a post on the game's official Twitter channel reads.

In case you're unfamiliar with this action-packed 8-bit title, it encourages you to grab a gun and head out into a crime-ravaged city to complete a variety of missions.

It's a lot like Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto, then, albeit more jovial.

Retro City Rampage is packed with nods to classic games and movie franchises, such as Back to the Future, you see.

Retro City Rampage will feature support for Sony's relatively new Cross-Buy and Cross-Save promotions.

So, you can play the title on both your PS Vita and PlayStation 3 without having to buy multiple copies. Your save data will even be synced between your devices, so you can always pick up from where you last left off.

Look out for Retro City Rampage on January 16th.
