Updated on December 7th, at 10:00 AM: Rockstar has released a short statement on its Newswire blog. Here it is, in full:
"Due to unforeseen technical issues, the Android release of Vice City will be slightly delayed. Our goal is to get this out for Android by the end of next week."
"Our apologies for the delay to all our fans on Android devices and please stay tuned for updates."
Rockstar has had to remove the Android version of its new Grand Theft Auto: Vice City port, due to "validation errors" with the company's servers.
"The game is not available for Android devices just yet, and if you're seeing it listed on the Store then this is an error," the developer wrote, in the comments section of its blog.
"You shouldn't attempt to download it," Rockstar says.
Rockstar is now working to iron out the bugs, and get the game back online for Android gamers soon. We'll let you know when it's safe to download the game.
Over in iOS land, the game is available on the App Store now. We reviewed it and said, "Rockstar has done a commendable job of bringing a stone-cold classic to mobile. Controls let the package down, but it's worth the cost for the memories."
