The arrival of the celebrated action RPG Bastion was something that took iPad owners by surprise this summer.

Once the Pocket Gamer Gold Award-winning game came to the App Store, however, many wondered if and when an iPhone version would come along.

According to Bastion's developer - Supergiant Games – that day would likely be never, as 'technical reasons' prohibited it from running on an iPhone.

Those reasons have since been overcome, thankfully, and Bastion is now available as a universal app for the unchanged price of £2.99 / $4.99.

As an added bonus, it also features support for the iPhone 5's wider screen.

Never say never again

Unfortunately, you'll still need a newer model iPhone to run Bastion in your pocket.

The release notes for Version 1.1 state that the app is only compatible with the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, and iPod Touch (5th generation). Owners of an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, or the original iPad are still unable to run Bastion on their devices.

Additionally, the Version 1.1 update to Bastion introduces iCloud sync support to the game, which allows you to transfer game data seamlessly between your iOS devices.
