Japan will receive another limited edition Pokemon 3DS XL, and just like the Pikachu Yellow version that came out over the summer this one looks pretty hot.

The new 3DS XL features the fan favourite Charizard - the fully evolved form of the starter Pokemon Charmander - splashed across its black case.

In a rather nice minimalist touch, the majority of the artwork is done in white lines with the exception of a green eye and a full-colour gout of flame on the back of the 3DS itself.

Unfortunately for Pokemon fans, Siliconera reports that this 3DS XL will not be available for mass retail and that interested consumers must enter into a lottery for the chance to win an opportunity to purchase one.

No love for the Bulbasaur?

It's not known at this time whether the special-edition Charizard handheld will make its way out of Japan, but given its rather exclusive nature the odds seem unlikely.

Then again, many thought the same thing about the Pikachu Yellow 3DS XL, but Nintendo recently announced it as part of a special edition bundle for Europe.

The lottery for the special edition Charizard 3DS XL will take place between November 3rd and November 26th. Those who win may purchase their system for 18,900 Yen (~£150 / ~$240) between December 15th and January 14th.
