Game controllers for touchscreen devices is one of this holiday season big trends.

We've recently seen the Duo Gamer pad for some of Gameloft's iOS games, and now PowerA's MOGA Mobile Gaming System for Android is available for purchase.

Open Android

Supporting tablets and phones running Android 2.3 or better, the Bluetooth controller is far superior in terms of build quality to the Duo Gamer.

At $50 is also cheaper, and because Android is an open platform, it supports a much larger - and growing - list of games.

Publishers and developers such as Gameloft, Atari, Namco Bandai, Sega, Remedy, Ratrod Studios and Vector Unit are supporting the controller by optimising some of their games for the controller.

Indeed, when you buy the MOGA controller, you get free version of Sonic CD and Pac-Man thrown in for good measure.

Apptastic

You'll have to download the MOGA pivot app from Google Play [link] onto your device to get the controller to work.

The free Pivot app acts a discovery channel for supported games, as well as syncing your phone or tablet and the controller, and launching games.

Available now, direct from PowerA or Amazon for global shipping, in the US from retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, Toys"R"Us, Fred Meyer, Gamestop, MOGA costs $49.99.
