Gold, Silver, or Bronze?

Daley Thompson's Decathlon runs, jumps, and lands cleanly on iOS and Android

I'm sure that Chris Hoy, Jessica Ennis, and Ellie Simmonds are all mightily pleased with their gold medals from this summer's Olympics and Paralympics, but we all know what they really want: a smartphone game with their name plastered on it.

Double Olympic gold medallist Daley Thompson has been living that particular dream since the '80s through his button-mashing ZX Spectrum classic Daley Thompson's Decathlon.

Well, Thompson clearly wants to relive those halcyon days, for a remastered version of his notorious "joystick killer" has just gone live on Apple's App Store and Google Play.

In this 2012 edition, you'll find - cue surprised looks all round - all ten events from the decathlon, Game Center leaderboards, and Twitter integration.

In Thompson's own words, "... it felt right this year with the Games in London to bring the game back out for phones and tablet computers - I loved playing it then and am getting pretty good at the new version!"

Pocket Gamer will be quizzing the big man himself on such matters in an interview tomorrow, so look out for that.

In the meantime, you can buy the game now for £1.49 / $1.99 on iOS [buy], and £1.49 on Android [buy]. You can then start campaigning for the release of Charlotte Dujardin's Dressage.
