Level-5's ghostly Pokemon-esque title Youkai Watch is probably heading to 3DS
Gotta spook 'em all
Level-5, the studio behind the Professor Layton puzzle series, has a rather intriguing game in the works called Youkai Watch. Even more intriguing is the news that it might be heading to Nintendo 3DS.
Youkai Watch is all about a boy who discovers a special watch that allows him to see ghost creatures. He can then battle them using his own ghosts, Pokemon-style, and in the process help out the people being haunted by the ghosts.
According to Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comic!, and as translated by BDashNews, Youkai Watch is on its way to the 3DS, although no release date has yet been given.
Now, the chances of it landing over here may be slim, but let's not forget that Level-5 has been doing a great job of bringing rather niche Japanese titles over to Western waters of late - the Inazuma Eleven football RPG games, for example.
For now, we'll just have to watch the trailer below from Tokyo Game Show 2011 again, and pray to whichever gods we believe in that Youkai Watch is bound for Europe and the US soon after its Japanese release.
