Here at Pocket Gamer, we're used to sorting through the avalanche of games that tumble into the app stores each week.

Yesterday, however, we asked you to throw your critical hat into the ring and tell us your favourite game from a shortlist of this week's best releases.

Well, the votes have tallied, and a clear winner has emerged: Adult Swim's people-arranging puzzler Girls Like Robots.

This engaging little head scratcher sees you sorting groups of nerd, girl, and robot tiles into empty slots. The trick is to fill all the empty slots on-screen while ensuring each tile remains happy.

You see, as the game's title suggests, girls like being placed next to robots. Nerds like being placed next to girls, but hate being slotted next to a fellow nerd. Robots dig girls, but get wigged out when surrounded by four at once.

Oh - and everybody loves pie. Obviously.

Presented in the quirky aesthetic style we've come to expect from Adult Swim (two-parts comic book to one-part hallucination), Girls Like Robots is a surprisingly thoughtful proposition.

Juggling the character classes becomes increasingly tricky as the grids become more expansive. Luckily, the intuitive interface and multiple control options make besting these challenges a tactile - and cerebral - pleasure.

If you want to see if the people chose wisely, you can download Girls Like Robots on iPhone and iPad for the introductory price of 69p / 99c [buy] now.
