Mobile games don't come much more epic and sprawling than Fishlabs's Galaxy on Fire titles.

That's why we suspect that rookie pilots and grizzled galactic travellers alike will be happy to hear of a slick new guide app for Galaxy on Fire 2, appropriately titled The Official Pocket Gamer Guide to Galaxy on Fire 2.

This guide covers the whole of the Galaxy on Fire 2 series, including the Valkyrie and Supernova add-ons.

Produced by Steel Media (yes, Pocket Gamer's daddy) in association with Fishlabs itself, the app contains everything you need to thrive in the Galaxy on Fire 2 universe.

That means complete in-game item breakdowns, tactical advice, mission logs, and character rundowns, as well as insider tips from the fine folk who made the game.

It's got all the information you need, then, but it's also been wrapped up in a lovely digital magazine-like wrapper.

As Pocket Gamer Guides editor-in-chief Joao Diniz Sanches puts it: "There is huge satisfaction in creating an intuitive app that not only complements the overall experience of a particular title, but also helps maximise a player's in-game enjoyment."

Now for a spot of well-earned (if we do say so ourselves) praise from Fishlabs CEO Michael Schade:

"Hardly anyone does a better job of writing about mobile games than Pocket Gamer," Schade says. "Hence, we knew right away that it was the perfect partner for us in this undertaking."

"In terms of content and layout, The Official Pocket Gamer Guide to Galaxy on Fire 2 is absolutely stunning, and we're sure that it will come in more than handy for every Galaxy on Fire 2 fan out there. This is without a doubt the best-looking and most complete GOF2 encyclopedia on the iPad!"

The Official Pocket Gamer Guide to Galaxy on Fire 2 is out now for iPad, priced £1.49 / $1.99. Follow the link below to download it. There'll be an iPhone version along soon, too.

This marks the first of many iPad guide apps from the Pocket Gamer Guides team, so if you're having trouble with a particular iOS game, keep your eyes peeled.
