Peter Molyneux's Curiosity submitted to Apple - final prize is not Half Life 3

22Cans, the indie studio founded by veteran games designer Peter Molyneux, has submitted its first game, Curiosity, to Apple.

Curiosity: What's Inside the Cube - to give it its full title - should, therefore, go live on the App Store later this month.

Curiosity is an experimental game in which players are presented with an enormous black cube, made up of 60 billion smaller parts. All of the players work together, gradually chipping away at great layers of the box.

You can purchase better tools - either with in-game coins or in-app purchases - that will help you break into the cube at a faster rate. That will also improve your chances of being the first person to spy what lies at the centre.

In his typically hyperbolic style, Molyneux promises that the secret at the centre of the cube will "change your life forever". In his Eurogamer Expo talk, he revealed that the prize is not money, a sports car, a dead cat, or Half-Life 3.

Molyneux is already working on the studio's next game, Cooperation, which he describes as "the biggest cooperative effort the world has ever known". Over time, 22Cans will make 22 experimental projects in a lengthy lead up to one big game.

Curiosity is now waiting to be approved by Apple. Molyneux estimates that the game will be available in about "ten days" (October 9th). 22Cans is also working on an Android version of the game.
