Nintendo announces new DLC for New Super Mario Bros. 2

Nintendo has announced plans to release three DLC packs for its freshly minted 3DS hit New Super Mario Bros. 2.

All three packs will be available to download in Japan on October 2nd, and will breathe new life into the game's Coin Rush mode.

The Go! Go! As Gold Mario Pack - allegedly the easiest of the bunch - will contain three gold-plated Coin Rush levels, with a potential 30,000 coins up for grabs.

If speed is your brutal and demanding mistress, then the Challenge the Record A Pack should satisfy your needs. It will contain three score-based time trials, the results for which will be posted on Nintendo's Japanese website.

Worth their weight

Finally, for those of you who completed New Super Mario Bros. 2 with one thumb tied behind your back (weirdos), Nintendo has created the Survival Panic Pack. Put simply, it contains a merciless trio of super-tough challenges.

Each expansion pack will cost ¥200, which works out at around £1.60 / $2.50. There is no US or European release date yet for these expansions, but we'll be sure to keep you posted with any new info.
