iOS + Android + 3DS ...

You can always count on New Releases Wednesday to serve up some interesting stories.

Now we know that by tomorrow we'll be playing the likes of fantasy hack 'n' slash gem God of Blades, the latest from Dead Island developer Techland, and Pokemon-style RPG Zenforms: Protectors on our iOS devices.

Also today, we reviewed the big new game from Angry Birds developer Rovio: Bad Piggies. And in another piece of show-stopping iOS news, here's the extended trailer for Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour. Shooty!

And then there are these bits and bobs: the little scraps of news that didn't quite make the front page.

New releases

It's PlayStation Store update day for Vita owners. In Europe, you'll find Table Ice Hockey for £1.59, New Little King's Story for £34.99, and a free demo for Silent Hill: Book of Memories. In the US, you'll discover LittleBigPlanet for $35.99, and the abovementioned hockey game for two bucks.

You can now add Disgaea to the long list of Japanese games that are being remade as social apps. GREE has launched Disgaea Makai Collection on feature phones in Japan. This turns Nippon Ichi's strategy RPG into a card game. Siliconera's got the scoop.

Pictured above, Robocat's 101 Airborne looks rather swell, doesn't it? It's a retro-style top-down shooter in which you use your customisable chopper to take out tanks, soldiers, and jeeps. "Between missions you can spend your hard earned dollars in the Hangar on bigger guns, monstrous missiles, pinup-girls and helpful gadgets." 69p / 99c on iOS.

6waves has released a freemium space epic RPG on Android. It's called Offworld, and it invites you to pilot giant mechs in an attempt to explore the galaxy. If you're feeling fighty, you can complete in multiplayer duels against other players.

On the horizon

Nicalis is to bring artsy silhouette puzzle-platformer NightSky to the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Feast your eyes on this trailer.

Eccentric PS3 adventure game Tokyo Jungle will soon be playable on PS Vita, thanks to Remote Play. Sony Worldwide Studios's Shuhei Yoshida tweeted that the game streaming feature will come to this madcap title, where animals take over Tokyo in some weird post-apocalyptic future.

Tech stuff

Are you a budding UK-based games developer? Sony's looking for concepts and prototypes for new PlayStation Mobile games. The winning entrant will walk away £25,000 richer. All the details are here.
