Mos Speedrun
By Physmo - download for iPhone and iPad

Mos Speedrun is an old skool 2D platformer in which you're asked to do little more than run and jump. Well.

You guide your ladybug / woman thing (your guess is as good as mine) across the game's 25 levels using the touchscreen buttons.

Mos Speedrun's rewarding difficulty curve helped propel it to a PG Silver Award last year.

Sword of Fargoal
By Fargoal, LLC - download for iPhone and iPad

It may be a jazzed-up version of an overhead dungeon crawler from ca. 1982, but Sword of Fargoal is a solidly designed title packed with content.

There's random map generation, so each playthrough is different; intuitive zoom / tap / swipe touchscreen controls; 20 dungeon levels; and over 28 monster types.

There are no in-app purchases like you might expect from this type of game, either. Which is nice.
