iOS + Android + 3DS ...

The iPhone 5 train continues to run full steam ahead. Despite Samsung's very best efforts, Apple managed to attract over two million pre-orders for the iPhone 5 in just 24 hours.

Elsewhere, Minecraft - Pocket Edition is now available on Kindle tablets, Forever Lost is something rather special, Baldur's Gate has been delayed into November, and Zynga has hit back against EA in the ongoing legal battle.

If those were the front page news, here are the stories that you'd find buried next to the horoscopes in the back of the paper...

On the horizon

Kickstarter success story The Banner Saga (a Viking-centric role-playing strategy game) is getting a freemium spin-off game later this year. Banner Saga Factions will be a combat-focused multiplayer game, with iPad and Ouya releases on the horizon.

The first game from Fireproof Studios - a band of developers from Burnout factory Criterion - is almost here. The Room is a Myst-like puzzle adventure for iPhone and iPad. It's out on September 19th - we'll tell you more about it on Wednesday.

New releases

Silverball Studios wants to prove that its upcoming Pro Pinball remake will be worth Kickstarting. To that end, the developer has released a free iOS tech demo to show off the lighting technology that will be used in the final game.

We don't recommend that you rush off and download 3D Cartoon Land: Safari on iPhone, but we do recommend you check out the screenshots for it. I mean, it's one of the most bizarre clones of recent times. It's plainly Super Mario 3D Land from the 3DS, only Mario's got long blond locks. Odd.

Tech stuff

The Korea Times reckons that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S IV at Mobile World Congress in February 2013. The phone will apparently then go on sale around the world in March.

Sales

Mega Man-style period piece Gunman Clive has gone free on iPhone and iPad. It's full of boss battles and imaginative levels, and it's presented in a scratchy 19th-century film artstyle.

Kairosoft's private school simulator Pocket Academy is available on the cheap - $1.49 / $1.99 on iPhone. You've got to expand your small school wisely to build a five-star academy filled with boffins.
