Galaxy on Fire 2 - Supernova is delayed due to Fishlabs's Mac mess-up

Team will optimise GOF 2 HD for iPhone 5 in the meantime

Galaxy on Fire 2 - Supernova is delayed due to Fishlabs's Mac mess-up

Supernova has been delayed. No, not the inevitable explosive death of our parent star: that's still on schedule. We're talking about the upcoming expansion pack for Galaxy on Fire 2.

Fishlabs CEO Michael Schade explains that the expansion's Mac version got rejected by Apple because "we used a restriction for the sandbox environment, which is no longer permitted in OSX applications".

So, instead of launching on iOS anyway and staggering the expansions pack's launch, the team decided to pull all three versions of the game so it could maintain that simultaneous release strategy.

Wider perspective

Developer Fishlabs won't spend the extra time just sitting on its hands, though. It plans to fully optimise Galaxy on Fire 2 HD for the iPhone 5. That means the game will fit perfectly on the new blower's widescreen resolution, and will contain some swanky shaders from the Mac version.

"We know that quite a few of you guys will be disappointed by the delay, since you've been looking forward to play Supernova for months," Schade says. The expansion pack has already been delayed once, way back in July.

When it finally hits the App Store, Supernova will feature an absolutely enormous amount of new content, including new planetary systems, giant dropships, another faction, more stations, new mini-games, loads of ships, armfuls of missions, and fresh weapons to fire.
