Sony Mobile CEO beats down Windows Phone 8 rumours with the pesky facts
|

There have been rumblings for a while that Sony might be ready to abandon Android and jump ship over to Microsoft's upcoming Windows Phone 8 platform. One man who really should know about these matters has put the kibosh on the whole thing, though.

Speaking to German newspaper Die Welt, Sony Mobile CEO Kunimasa Suzuki noted that the Japanese manufacturer has "no current plans" for making the move over to Microsoft's new mobile OS.

While he admitted that Sony's market share is shrinking, the new CEO reaffirmed his company's commitment to the Android operating system.

Suzuki also stated that while a lot of device manufacturers are diversifying in order to avoid the legal onslaught from the Apple patent machine, Sony's own portfolio of patents makes it a much harder target.
