How to play Shadow of the Colossus on PS Vita via Remote Play
|

Want to play Shadow of the Colossus on your Vita's pint-size screen while you are literally sitting next to your PS3 and giant plasma TV? Then, boy, do we have the tutorial for you, you maniac.

Two PS3 compilations - the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, and the God of War Collection - have now been patched to work over Remote Play, which means you can stream them from your home console to your Vita.

Follow this step-by-step tutorial, and you'll be bashing in furry great beasties in no time.

On your PS3, plop in the Blu-ray for the game you want to stream, and load it up once to download the Remote Play patch. Once you've installed the patch, exit the game by pressing the PlayStation button and choosing 'Quit'. how-to-remote-play-01
Navigate to the 'Settings' pane on your PS3, and choose 'Remote Play Settings'. Find 'register device' and choose PS Vita. You'll be given a numerical code, so leave it up on the screen. how-to-remote-play-02
Pick up your Vita, go to the main menu, and find the 'Remote Play' bubble. Tap on this, and you'll be asked to insert the code from your PS3. Type it in, and your two consoles are now connected. You won't need to do this every time you play - it's just so the two consoles will be able to find each other. how-to-remote-play-03
Back to PS3 now. Go over to the 'Network' bar and choose 'Remote Play'. This will make the console ready for the Vita to connect to. how-to-remote-play-04
Still in the Remote Play app on your Vita? Good. Choose 'Connect via private network'. After a little bit of loading, you should see your PS3's XrossMediaBar on your Vita. Hooray. You can now watch videos, listen to music, use PlayTV, play PSone games, and use a small selection of Remote Play-enabled games. how-to-remote-play-05
On the Vita, select the Blu-ray for your Remote Play-enabled game, and load it up. You may be asked to choose a different button configuration. This essentially lets you reassign the PS Vita's missing buttons (like L2 and R2). To do this, tap the screen and hit the toolbox button. You either want button Type 2 (where you hit a combination of buttons to gain access to those missing buttons) or button Type 3 (where sections of the rear touch panel become buttons). Once you're done, exit the 'Settings' menu to play the game. how-to-remote-play-06
Want to play from a little farther away? First, go to the 'Remote Play' settings on your PS3 and turn on Remote Start. This means you can turn on your PS3 from halfway around the world, using your Vita. Remember that your PS3 can be turned off, but it still needs to be connected to an active power source and be in standby mode. Then, grab your Vita and fly to another continent. We'll wait. Done? Okay, go into the Remote Play app, but this time choose 'Connect via Internet'. If you're hooked up to a wi-fi connection, you'll see your PS3 pop up on the screen. how-to-remote-play-07
