Pixelated indie horror gem Home may come to iOS soon
Choose your own murder-venture
The atmospheric indie horror game Home arrived on Steam at the end of August, but its developer Benjamin Rivers originally wanted it to be an iPad game.
Rivers has not given up hope that Home will find its way home to the App Store, however. Speaking to Polygon, he stated that he recognized that he did not have the talents to develop a game for the iPad on his own and so chose to release it for the PC instead.
Rivers is optimistic about the chances for a mobile port of Home coming in the months ahead, "If I can hire someone to help with this", he stated, "I would love to get an iOS version of Home out in the new year".
Home is where the heart isWith an emphasis on storytelling over graphical grandeur, Home draws its inspiration from minimalist horror games and films.
After awakening in a strange room in a dark house that is not his own, the main character of Home must solve a murder mystery and figure out how he got to the house in the first place.
Comparing Home to Freebird Games's The Mirror Lied or even The Blair Witch Project would be appropriate, but a trifle unfair. The plot and events of Home change based upon the actions taken by the player, and it strives to keep players engaged and involved on a deep, intellectual level.
