[Update] Sony Xperia T and J will be out in the UK on Wednesday
|
Updated on September 6th, at 10:05: It turns out that the Carphone Warehouse was a little hasty with its announcement, as the Xperia T and J most definitely did not come out yesterday, a fact spotted by the eagle-eyed folks over at Xperia Blog. A post on the Sony blog yesterday states that the Xperia T will be released sometime "over the next few weeks".

The Xperia T, V, and J were only officially announced at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin last week, but customers in the UK are going to be able to get their hands on two of them as early as Wednesday, September 5th.

Unfortunately, the Xperia V (which was touted as a middle of the range handset, but packs the same amount of punch as the flagship Xperia T) isn't going to be available on these shores.

Pocket Gamer asked Sony, who told us that the V "is an LTE device and the UK isn't an LTE market (yet at least)". Boo.

There's no news on what sort of contract you're going to have to sign up for to bag yourself an Xperia T or J, but Carphone Warehouse will have them to buy in the middle of this week.

A tablet for what ails you

The phone shop is also going to be stocking the Xperia Tablet S: Sony's new 9.4 inch, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet.

There's no details on when you'll be able to get your hands on one, although rumour has it it might be out by the end of the week. Either way, Carphone Warehouse has confirmed that the Wi-Fi only model will be £329, and a 3G and Wi-Fi model will set you back £429.

While it's not clear, we'd bet our bottom dollar that that's for a 16GB version of the tablet, and not the top of the range 64GB version.
