2D creation sim The Sandbox is performing rather admirably on iOS - 1.5 million downloads and counting, thank you very much.

To celebrate this milestone, its developer, Pixowl, is teasing an upcoming update.

You will be able to relive the Jurassic period in the game. Yep, that means hulking dinosaurs stomping around your little pixellated universe.

You will also be able to "destroy entire worlds with powerful new explosives." Maybe that's how the dinosaur era came to an end - some cosmic smartphone game. Maybe.

Music to my ears

There will also be some brand-new missions and 30 new elements spread across four new campaigns. As well as the aforementioned Dinosaur one, there's Pixel Art, Music, and Contraptions.

If you're a fan of Minecraft or any of the like-minded games that followed in its wake, there are plenty of kicks to be had from The Sandbox. It's even free to play, so why not suck it and see?

The update will launch sometime in September.
