Sony to focus on original content

Gamescom '12: PSone classics set to disappear from PlayStation Mobile
|

It's been a pretty good Gamescom overall for gamers-on-the-go with a penchant for Sony products.

We've had the reVitalisation of PlayStation Mobile, with Sony extending this service's reach to Asus devices and the upcoming Wikipad. There's been plenty of exciting Vita-specific news, too, including the confirmation that Super Crate Box is heading to the platform.

Sadly, though, there's bad news, as well. While Vita gamers will finally get the chance to get their hands on some PSone classics in a couple of weeks' time, it looks like owners of PlayStation-certified mobile devices won't be.

There have been a lot of decent PSone releases for mobile in the past few months, with the likes of Silent Hill, Guilty Gear, and the Gold Award-winning Tekken 2 all making their way onto Xperia devices.

But, after the relaunch of PlayStation Mobile at the end of the year, Sony is going to focus on tailored experiences, rather than retooled classics.

If you haven't already done so, it might be a good time to head over to the PlayStation Suite and pick up some of the great games on offer there. Before they disappear for good.
