FIFA 13 for iOS to feature online multiplayer

No sooner have our Olympians packed up and gone home than we're turning our thoughts to football. Hey, it is the national sport.

With the 2012-2013 season about to kick off, it's pretty good timing on EA's part to reveal fresh details on FIFA 13 for iOS.

At a recent showcase event, the publisher announced that this would be the first mobile FIFA to provide online multiplayer. Finally, eh?!

Said multiplayer mode will be available through EA's own Origin service, which would suggest that Game Center integration is unlikely.

While we're in speculative mood, we'd suggest that online multiplayer could well be coming to the Android version of FIFA 13, too.

Just yesterday, we brought you the news that EA was bringing its Origin service to Google's smartphone platform, so it would be reasonable to expect it to play a part in the company's biggest sports series on one of the world's biggest smartphone platforms.

Er, wouldn't it?

One more thing... you'll be able to upload replays in FIFA 13 on iOS to YouTube, which should be great for those spectacular 40-yard volleys / hilarious own goals.
