Paradox Interactive would love to bring its thoughtful brand of strategy game to the iPad - it's just not sure that the tablet can take the strain.

Speaking to Kotaku, Paradox studio manager Johan Andersson responded emphatically to the question of whether he would consider porting games like the Crusader Kings franchise across to Apple's iPad, saying: "Yes, we definitely want to do that!"

However, Andersson quickly followed up his enthusiasm with some technical concerns.

"With current machines, our games would not work that easily, as they require a fair bit of memory," Andersson explained.

"So I'd expect us to have to do pretty creative engineering to handle it, because we can't do stuff like removing features or making less countries playable, as that would not be a Paradox Development Studio game."

Growing the empire

Despite his concerns about the iPad's hardware limitations, Andersson has given the best candidates for an iOS project plenty of thought, citing Paradox's political war sim Victoria II as the easiest title to port, "especially when it comes to interface".

So, will we ever see Paradox titles on an iPad?

"We'll see what the future holds," Andersson teased.
