Nintendo's 3DS XL has become the fastest selling revision of a modern handheld Nintendo console, shifting 193,441 units in its first two days on sale, according to Famitsu.

In comparison, the DSi XL sold just 103,000 units in the same time period, the DS Lite just 68,000, and the DSi hit 170,000

This increase in sales over previous versions is likely down to the latest outing from Nintendo's iconic portly plumber in New Super Mario Bros. 2, which was released to coincide with the console.

NSMB2 alone has shifted an astounding 430,000 units in two days.
