It's not just ambitious Android consoles and smartwatch projects that come through the Kickstarter initiative - games do, too.

One of the latest studios to turn to Kickstarter for some crowdfunding help is Tobgame, the developer collective responsible for upcoming iOS and Android platformer The Other Brothers.

The goal for Tobgame is to get the thoroughly charming-looking The Other Brothers (seemingly a cheeky nod to the Mario and Luigi) released on iOS this autumn, followed by Android at a later date. Naturally, those plans will be helped considerably with the right funding.

This four-man team is targeting donations of $50,000 to get the game finished, tested, and generally polished to an acceptable standard. At the time of writing, they had $6,707 in the virtual coffers, so there's still some way to go.

Retro glory

Investors will get their name in the game - described by its makers as "an episodic family adventure game of running, jumping, collecting and racing against the clock, all in retro pixel glory" - as well as a bunch of cool merchandise, such as T-shirts and artwork.

The team will also design a pixel-art character in your likeness that will appear in the game.

More than enough incentive to head on over to Kickstarter and open your (digital) wallet, we reckon.
