Rumour: Apple releasing a redesigned iPod Touch in September
A 5th generation with an A5 chip?
With rumours of the iPhone 5 swirling and its release expected soon, attention is beginning to shift to the rest of Apple’s product line.
The iPod Touch, which has not seen a true re-design in almost two years, is at the forefront of this speculation, and Mac Rumors believes it is next in line for an update to a 5th generation model.
The source of the rumour suggests that the 5th generation iPod Touch will have a 4-inch screen that features the same in-cell touch display technology currently rumoured to exist in the upcoming iPhone 5.
The fourth generation iPod Touch currently boasts a more economical 3.5" display.
A new way to touchIf the rumours about the "in-cell" display prove true, this will allow the new iPod's screen (and device as a whole) to be thinner while enhancing its overall image quality.
It is also rumoured that the 5th generation iPod touch will feature a more squared design to mimic the rumoured form factor of the iPhone 5 and will also feature the faster A5 chip found in the iPhone 4S.
