Firemint and IronMonkey merge; become the fearsome-sounding Firemonkeys
Real Dead Mouse Effect
EA has announced that it has merged two of its most critically acclaimed Australian mobile studios into one bigger entity.
From now on, Firemint (Real Racing, Spy Mouse, Flight Control) and IronMonkey Studios (Dead Space, Mass Effect Infiltrator) will operate as one company, known simply as 'Firemonkeys'.
Incidentally, Firemonkeys is actually a pretty cool name.
In EA's press release on Firemonkeys, the video game behemoth states that the merger will allow for an "even more focused team of passionate individuals who are dedicated to developing high-quality mobile game experiences". In normal English, that means: "We've made a bigger development studio."
Monkey see more, monkey do moreAny fears about the merger leading to staff cutbacks seem to have been quashed straight away, for Firemonkeys is already looking for new personnel.
In closing, it's also mentioned in the press release that "fans can expect unique features and new experiences in the brands they have come to know and love."
