Rumour: Apple to launch 7-inch iPad mini in September
Industry insider reveals details on Apple's core plans
If you're in the market for a 7-inch tablet and you can't bear to leave the iOS ecosystem, start saving your pennies. According to one industry expert with a decent track record, the much-rumoured iPad mini could be with us as soon as this autumn.
In a note to clients earlier today, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote that "Apple's next iPhone will launch in September followed closely by the release of the iPad mini."
Ming-Chi Kuo believes that shipments of the iPad mini's components will begin in August, and that the current iPad line will "end production" in preparation for an updated third-generation iPad.
Despite late Apple CEO Steve Jobs stating back in 2010 that a 7-inch slate is too small for a decent tablet experience, rumours continue to circulate that The Big A is getting ready to unveil a 7-inch iPad.
If the so-called iPad mini does materialise later this year, it will face some stiff competition from Google's high-flying Nexus 7.
