DeathSpank creators bring physics-based puzzler The Big Big Castle to iPad
Talk about an edifice complex
Ron Gilbert and Clayton Kauzlaric, the game gurus behind the 2010 parody RPG DeathSpank, have released their first iPad-exclusive game: The Big Big Castle.
A far cry from the over-the-top zaniness of DeathSpank, The Big Big Castle lets you meditatively build imposing mediaeval feats of architecture like castles and cathedrals.
Once you've completed a building you can designate it as a home for a princess, or to use it to provide shelter for the poor.
Like a castle in the windIn contrast with the somewhat permanent nature of castles in the real world, The Big Big Castle lets you destroy your in-game creations with cannonballs, super cannonballs, and UFO attacks at will.
The destructive element of the game is the brainchild of Clayton's nine-year-old son, who has a brilliant career in game design ahead of him.
You can unlock destructive elements and additional enhancements to your castles by earning coins, which are available as in-app purchases.
Gilbert suggests that you may also want to make in-app purchases if, "you feel guilty about pirating Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, DeathSpank or Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo."
