Google has begun rolling out the latest version of Android, Jelly Bean, to owners of the Galaxy Nexus HSPA+, with the standard Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, and Motorola Xoom to receive the Android 4.1 update shortly after.

Owners of the HSPA+ handset will receive a prompt over the next few days to update to Android Jelly Bean.

Jelly Bean contains a host of new features, including faster (offline) voice search, and a "redesigned search experience". It's also designed to be smoother and slicker when transitioning and opening apps than previous versions of Android, thanks to a new way of handling CPU speeds.

News of when other handsets might receive the latest OS is a little thin on the ground, but it is rumoured that Samsung will update its flagship Galaxy S III handset to Jelly Bean in Q4 2012 (thanks, TalkAndroid).
