Galaxy on Fire 2 HD flies onto BlackBerry App World

In comparison to iOS and Android, the BlackBerry platform doesn't attract a great deal of attention from the game development community. That doesn't mean RIM's OS gets completely left out in the dark, however.

Hamburg-based developer Fishlabs has just released a version of its gorgeous-looking Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning iPhone and iPad space exploration title Galaxy on Fire 2 HD for the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Released on Apple's App Store back in October 2011, Galaxy on Fire 2 sees you take on the role of Keith T. Maxwell - a brave space pilot who's out to stop an alien menace and find his way back home.

"Since RIM's App World is a very attractive distribution platform and the company's PlayBook an absolutely top-notch tablet, we're particularly happy to offer our flagship title Galaxy on Fire 2 to the BlackBerry users in a stunning HD version specifically optimized for the PlayBook," Michael Schade, Fishlabs's CEO, said.

"We have put a lot of work and effort into the porting of the game and are more than happy with the result. Galaxy on Fire 2 HD is definitely one of the most ambitious games on the App World and we're sure that the PlayBook users will have just as much fun with the title as the iPhone and iPad gamers."
