Have you ever wished that you could turn your iOS device into a full-fledged home gaming console? The minds over at Cascadia Games certainly have, and turned to Kickstarter to make this wish a reality.

The proposed GameDock will work with an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch and interfaces with a television or projector via an HDMI cable. At the front of the GameDock is a familiar-looking USB controller that allows mobile gamers to control many of their favorite apps.

If no TV is available, players may still use the controllers to play on an iOS device connected to the GameDock while making use of the device’s native screen.

Tap to play? Not today.

The simplicity and retro controls of the GameDock do not come cheaply, however. Assuming that the Kickstarter campaign is successful, the GameDock’s projected retail price is $150.00. For that price, buyers will receive the GameDock and one controller – they must provide their own HDMI cable and iPhone charger.

The Verge reports that the GameDock will support dozens of App Store games that would be playable on the iCade (including Atari’s 100 Greatest Hits). Cascadia Games notes that any game that is limited to two action buttons and two menu buttons should be compatible with the GameDock.

With 42 days left in the Kickstarter campaign, the GameDock has raised $12,500 of its stated goal of $50,000.
