Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode II races onto Xperia Play and non-Tegra Android devices

Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode II has finally been released for non-Tegra-powered Android devices. And the good news for Xperia Play owners is that the game is fully optimised for the Play's slide-out controller.

Featuring three new stages - and an extra one if you own Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 on Android - and co-op multiplayer over Bluetooth, Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode II is a decent-sized package.

While the iOS version didn't exactly set the PG world alight, a lot of the problems our reviewer had with Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode II were related to the touchscreen controls. Hopefully, then, the Xperia Play's physical buttons will resolve these issues.

So, if you're in the mood for some high-speed platforming and you've got £5 burning a hole in your bank balance, you should head on over to the Google Play Store and give the game a try.

Hey, you could even get there by clicking here.
