Report claims more than half of all game-related Kickstarter projects fail
Better luck next time, son
Over the past few weeks, months, and probably years, game developer's have took to crowd-sourcing website Kickstarter in order to seek funds for development projects.
Pocket Gamer has reported on several high-profile success stories in the past, such as Double Fine Adventure and Republique, but the service doesn't always lead to favourable outcomes.
According to an interesting infographic by AppsBlogger.com, around 50 per cent of all Kickstarter projects manage to attract enough backers.
If you just look at the gaming category, however, that number drops to around 43 per cent, which means only around 10,000 of the 17,000 gaming projects launched on the website have been successfully funded.
Once funded, developer's have a whole batch of other issues to contend with. Back in April, War Balloon Games explained how it struggled to complete its project, despite amassing $15,000 more than it originally asked for. This was due to having to buy merchandise, paying Kickstarter fees, and people who simply didn't pony up the promised cash.
