Rumour: Resident Evil Portable and new Metal Gear Solid game heading to PS Vita

Too good to be true?

Rumour: Resident Evil Portable and new Metal Gear Solid game heading to PS Vita

Listings for two new AAA PS Vita games have cropped up on a pair of retail websites hours before Sony's E3 presentation.

VG247 is reporting that PlayAsia has a (tentative) listing for a Metal Gear Solid PS Vita title, which isn't - I repeat, isn't - the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. This means that Sony may be set to unveil a new Metal Gear title for the Vita at E3.

Similarly, Play.com has a pre-order listing for a Resident Evil Portable title for the PS Vita. According to the online retailer's product page for Resident Evil Portable, the release date has yet "to be confirmed".

Premature celebration

A degree of caution should, of course, be exercised regarding these listings, for Vita owners have been 'stung' in the relatively recent past by this sort of preemptive pre-order listing.

In March, Play.com jumped the gun and posted a listing for Monster Hunter 3 for the PS Vita. The game's existence had been rumoured since January, but Monster Hunter 3 for Vita has yet to materialise.

Whether or not a Vita version of Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil Portable will form part of Sony's E3 presentation in the early hours of tomorrow morning (GMT) remains to be seen. Thankfully, we won't have to wait too long to find out.
