Assassin's Creed III: Liberation for PS Vita out October 30th, set in New Orleans

Over the last few days it has emerged - first via a retailer leak and then through US games magazine Game Informer - that the Assassin's Creed franchise is coming to PS Vita in the form of Assassin's Creed III: Liberation.

This instalment of the popular time-jumping saga will be set in New Orleans between 1765 and 1780, making it contemporaneous with Assassin's Creed III (pictured), which is set in New York, Boston, and elsewhere during the American Revolution.

According to the NeoGAF user who posted the news, you'll play as a female assassin called Aveline, who is being mentored by an escaped slave called Agate. The game will contain the entirety of New Orleans and regions across the Gulf of Mexico.

Unlike in Assassin's Creed III, you won't be playing as one of Desmond's ancestors. Instead, Liberation is purportedly, "a propaganda tool by Abstergo, who want players to experience a gray area of the Assassin/Templar conflict as an assassin rather than a templar".

There will also be multiplayer and alligators. Assassin's Creed III: Liberation is due out on the same day as Assassin's Creed III - October 30th.
