Rumour: Next iPhone will come with a 3.95-inch screen
|

9to5 Mac has been speaking to its unnamed sources embedded in Apple's Cupertino headquarters again and is reporting that the next iPhone will come with a 3.95-inch display - almost, but not quite, the same size as the one mentioned in earlier rumours.

Apparently, there are currently two models hidden away somewhere on the traditionally secretive technology giant's campus, but both of them have the same display size.

By tinkering with the dimensions of the iPhone, Apple will have to up the pixel count on this prototype to retain the "Retina display" resolution of the previous models, with the screen bumped up to 1136x640 from 960x640 pixels.

Widescreen-ish

9to5Mac also claims that the next-gen iPhone will be the same width as its predecessors - only the height of its display will be increased.

Such a move would result in a display that's much closer to a 16:9 ratio than a screen seen on any previous Apple mobile or tablet, and would no doubt cause a fair few headaches for developers in the process.

As with all rumours, especially those to do with Apple, do take a very healthy pinch of salt before digesting.
