South Korea-based manufacturer LG has announced that its quad-core-packing Optimus 4X HD smartphone, which was introduced back in February at Mobile World Congress, will be available to buy in Europe from next month.

This forthcoming smartphone features a 4-PLUS-1 Tegra 3 processor, a large 4.7-inch True HD IPS display, and a removable 2150mAh battery - "the biggest battery" found in any quad-core phone. In a future upgrade, LG will introduce the ability to shutdown any of the Tegra 3's cores in order to manage power consumption and performance.

Sticking with the LG Optimus 4X HD's hardware, it sports an 8-megapixel backside illuminated camera, which comes packing a useful feature that allows you to select and save the best snap among the images taken prior to pressing the shutter button.

Software-wise, LG's upcoming device houses Quick Memo, which allows you to quickly create notes inside any application; and Media Plex, which offers PC-like multimedia playback.

The LG Optimus 4X HD will be rolled out in Europe first, and will pop up in Asia and the US in the coming months.
