Samsung has revealed the first official TV advertisement for its upcoming Galaxy S III handset, and it's... err... a bit odd.

Rather than highlighting the device's impressive spec sheet - which you can peruse in our exhaustive hands-on - Sammy's advertising bods / bots have decided to, well, anthropomorphize the quad-core blower.

According to the minute-long commercial (featured below), the newest Galaxy smartphone "recognises who you are", "follows your every move", and "waits till you're asleep."

Android After All

Though the images of intimate family moments are clearly designed to echo the campaign's "Made for humans" tagline (as opposed to crabs, I suppose?), we can't help but get a slightly creepy vibe from the on-screen text.

The only people we can think of who follow your every move and wait till you're asleep are home invaders and Santa Claus, and, frankly, we don't want either of them near our contacts list. That's a lie: I'd quite like Santa on speed dial.

Quirky TV-spots aside, the Galaxy S III is shaping up to be a serious contender in the fight for handset dominance, as shown in our three-way comparison with the iPhone 4S and the HTC One X piece.

The Samsung Galaxy S III will arrive in European stores from May 29th.
