3DS dominates Japan's Golden Week sales as Vita sales slump

The latest weekly sales figures for Japan have been released, and it is weal for Nintendo and more woe for Sony.

Andriasang is reporting that Nintendo 3DS sales were up 24 per cent from 74,282 to 91,868 units, while the sales of the PS Vita slid 14 per cent from 12,299 to 10,583.

Sales of the PSP slid approximately 10 per cent from 22,457 to 20,033.

A Golden Week for Nintendo

What makes this week’s sales figures particularly interesting is that they cover Japan's Golden Week, a period of consecutive holidays that usually see a surge in hardware and software sales.

The Vita is still doing better than it was a few weeks ago, but these sales figures are hardly encouraging.

Perhaps Sony should listen to our suggestions for how to improve the Vita’s fortunes.
