Terry Cavanagh's hard-as-nails platformer VVVVVV was released for the Nintendo 3DS in the US at the end of 2011. Alas, we've been waiting patiently for a European release date for a good number of months to no avail.

In VVVVVV, you take control of Viridian as he flips his way through a strange multi-coloured dimension full of spikes and other nasties. It's short but sweet entertainment that comes with plenty of added extras, such as special worlds created by prominent indie developers (e.g. Minecraft's Notch).

But, hark! Is that the sound of the Euro eShop's cogs grinding into motion and finally churning out a release date for VVVVVV for we Europeans?

It's true - VVVVVV will land in the European 3DS eShop on Thursday May 10th, and will set you back £7.20.

That sounds a little pricey, given that the game costs £3.99 on Steam, but it's a little easier to bear if you consider that the game originally cost $15 (around £9.27) when it debuted on PC a couple of years ago.
