Major League Gaming, Sony, and Gameloft announce 'world's first competitive smartphone gaming platform' for iOS and Android

Major League Gaming, Sony Mobile Communications, and Gameloft have today unveiled the world's first competitive smartphone gaming platform: the Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena Presented by Sony Mobile.

The arena, which will launch with Gameloft's action-packed first-person shooter Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, will give you the chance to compete for more than $10,000 of prizes using your iOS- or Android-powered smartphone or tablet.

To enter the arena, all you have to do is link your Major League Gaming and Gameloft accounts together, and play a featured Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena title. Your ranking will be automatically recorded and tallied on the arena's leaderboards.

"The MLG community thrives on competition and with our new mobile platform, we are now enabling gamers to engage in competitive play no matter where they are," Sundance DiGiovanni, MLG's CEO, said. "With partners like Sony Mobile and Gameloft, we are truly taking mobile gaming to a new level."

Additional titles will be added to the fray over the coming months.
