Nokia reveals plans for a range of tablets and 'hybrid' mobile devices

Nokia has confirmed its intention to launch a range of tablets, and pledged to deliver "hybrid" mobile devices in the future.

Despite the company revealing operating losses of €1.3 billion during Q1 2012, the Finnish company seemed more interested in discussing the future than dwelling on the past.

Talking to the Financial Times, Nokia chairman Jorma Ollila explained the company's strategy for enticing consumers back to the Nokia brand.

"Tablets are an important one, so that is being looked into, and there will be different form factors in the future," Ollila said.

Nokia has been talking about tablets since November of last year, when head of Nokia France Paul Amsellem confirmed that a Windows 8-powered tablet PC was due to arrive this summer.

Besides new tablets, Nokia's is no doubt hoping that its flagship smartphone handset, the Lumia 900 - which is set to roll out worldwide in Q2 2012 - will help to revive its ailing fortunes.
