Mac and PC strategy title Gratuitous Space Battles blasts onto the iPad

Positech Games's Mac and PC strategy title Gratuitous Space Battles is now available to download from the App Store for iPad, thanks to developer Red Marble Games.

Gratuitous Space Battles combines elements from the strategy, management, and simulation game genres, but does away with base building and other tedious tasks and throws you straight into the action.

Your aim is to create your own ships using modular components before arranging them into fleets and instructing them to engage enemy targets. During battle, your individual ship commanders have total autonomy, meaning it's essential that you pack each ship in your fleet with the right amount of weapons.

This game also features two Survival mode maps, which pit you against waves and waves of enemies that severely outnumber you.
